Barcelona, Spain, March 22nd 2011 - The Kinamik Secure Audit Vault product has been selected by the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce to aid their Law 11/2007 compliance efforts. The revised process has been modernized to use the Kinamik solution to protect and preserve in realtime the audit logs generated by their e-notification process.

As with many other public institutions in Spain, the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce must comply with Spain’s Law 11/2007. This law mandates that public offices create and build services that allow electronic interaction with their members in particular and the entire Spanish society in general. Automating their manual notification process –delivered personally by couriers- provided new cost-reduction opportunities for the Chamber of Commerce; however, the law’s strict requirements for data protection, information management and proper preservation and protection of data integrity resulted in a steep challenge to meet compliance mandates. Furthermore, additional objectives were added to the original set of requirements: for example, the new e-notification process had to properly manage the risk of certain notifications being challenged; it had to increase the legal admissibility of these notifications; and the system had to be scalable so that other notification processes, such as billing and bidding processes and judicial resolutions, could be added.

By integrating its platform -a corporate intranet application built using Microsoft SharePoint® and an e-mail notification system based on Microsoft Exchange Server® - with the Kinamik Secure Audit Vault product, the process has now added non-repudiation and integrity protection. The Kinamik Secure Audit Vault product enables the reconstruction of chronology, authorship and content of the audit logs, thus achieving irrefutable accountability of both board members as well as the Chamber employees.
