Compare with other technologies |
Different solutions are currently used for trying to achieve data integrity protection. However, these solutions do not provide integrity protection and tamper-evident properties for data as the Kinamik Secure Audit Vault does.- Digital Signatures
Digital signatures provide authenticity and integrity but only at the level they are applied. Inherent to its technology, if applied for audit trails a security time gap may be created. Read more.
- Time stamping
Time stamping is a good way of providing an idea of sequence. But the way this technology has been designed means that they must be applied at the whole file level, creating an unsecured time window. Read more.
- SIEM (log management)
SIEM solutions are for parsing, normalizing and analyzing in real-time what is happening in an IT Infrastructure. However, most log management solutions do not provide integrity protection, and the ones that claim to do create a security time gap. Read more.
- Write-once Read Many Solutions (WORM)
These hardware-based solutions were created for avoiding modifications on data that has been added to them. Nevertheless, the security flaw is created precisely due to the way these technologies work. Furthermore, there is a clear trend to move away from this type of solutions for being cost inefficient and very difficult to scale. Read more.
- One-way hashing
One-way hashing provide insights on detecting tampering on each hashed item, have a low overhead. However they do not provide a relationship of sequence and therefore do not provide for irrefutability of modification at the data group level. Read more.
