Data Retention Directive (DRD) |
The Kinamik Secure Audit Vault helps organizations comply with the following regulations:
- DRD: The European Data Retention Directive requires Member States to ensure that communications providers must retain, for a period of between 6 months and 2 years, necessary data as specified in the Directive to:
- trace and identify the source of a communication;
- trace and identify the destination of a communication;
- identify the date, time and duration of a communication;
- identify the type of communication;
- identify the communication device;
- identify the location of mobile communication equipment.
The Directive refers to transaction (i.e. logs or audit trails) details, and not to the actual content of the communication. Also, data integrity provisions must be put in place by organizations. One of the most outstanding characteristics of the Kinamik Secure Audit Vault is the unique way it processes continuously appending files such as logs, applying a “digital fingerprint” in real-time thus providing unquestionably proof of authenticity and integrity. Furthermore, this is achieved at the highest level of detail for integrity assurance.
